Slovenia’s PM to discuss telco’s privatisation

Slovenia’s Prime Minister Janez Jansa has announced that the government will discuss plans to privatise national telco Telekom Slovenije, alongside the country’s second largest bank NKBM, in two parliamentary sessions this month. Jansa said the government intends to adhere to a plan to keep a 25% stake-plus-one share in the operator. ‘That way [the state] retains decision-making power in strategic decisions but does not influence business decisions, which are up to the majority owners,’ the Prime Minister explained, adding that: ‘I believe that this provides an appropriate combination of the protection of national interest and the objective of making these companies as successful as possible on the market.’
