Ghana Telecom (GT) yesterday announced the launch of its new pre-paid fixed voice telephony service, Eazyfone. The product is being offered in two formats: one which is targeted at the residential user, and the other, Eazyfone maxi prepaid, which is packaged for business users. The service is an alternative to a standard post-paid contract service. The launch is, in part, GT’s response to teething troubles with its itemised billing system. Mr Joseph Wereko, the general manager for marketing and communications, said the operator was searching for a solution to complaints from customers after it launched a new system in October 2005 to curtail problems with its itemised billing. Wereko admitted that GT has experienced difficulties, but added that the advent of pre-paid has addressed many of its shortcomings.
