SKT to invest USD2.8 billion in S-Fone

South Korea Telecom (SKT) has revealed plans to invest USD2.8 billion in its Vietnamese wireless joint venture S-Fone. The cash will be spent on rolling out additional CDMA2000 1x infrastructure to all cities and main towns across the country by the start of 2007 and introducing 1xEV-DO to the cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The company hopes to double its customer base from the current 500,000 by the end of the year.
