Belgian fixed line incumbent Belgacom has contracted IP networks specialist Veraz Networks to expand its switching infrastructure as part of the transition of its networks to an IP-based architecture. Veraz will supply the telco’s subsidiary Belgacom International Carrier Services with its ControlSwitch and I-Gate 4000 media gateways enabling the carrier to integrate its existing service and OSS (operational support systems) infrastructure. The deployment will also include up to 100,000 VoIP ports to expand the existing TDM capacity.
