8 May 2006

Egypt’s National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) says it has received eleven bids for the country’s third GSM mobile licence. Telenor of Norway, MTC of Kuwait, Telecom Italia, Russia’s MTS and South Africa’s MTN have all submitted bids in conjunction with local partners. The NTRA says it will spend the next six to eight weeks studying each proposal and announce a short list of applicants in late June or early July.
