Emcali awards WiLL deal to ZTE

5 May 2006

Colombian fixed line operator Emcali has contracted Chinese equipment vendor ZTE to provide and install a GSM-based wireless in the local loop (WiLL) network in Cali, Colombia’s second largest city. The new network will operate in the 1900MHz spectrum and will be rolled out to 90% of Cali’s population, offering voice and GPRS data services. This latest agreement follows a deal forged last year when ZTE upgraded Emcali’s core network with a fixed line 3G solution enabling services such as IPTV.
