Tele2 launches VoIP service ‘Parlino’

3 May 2006

Sweden’s Tele2 has launched a software-based VoIP service called Parlino, offering free calls between PC/laptop users worldwide. According to Tele2, the service is based on a SIP-compatible protocol to enable both incoming and outgoing calls including international calls to fixed and mobile numbers. The service also offers the option of ‘Parlino Dial-in’, a pre-paid service priced at EUR2.95 per month providing users with a regular telephone number which can be dialled at a national rate, irrespective of whether the Parlino user is at home or abroad, as well as voicemail access. As a launch offering, the first 10,000 customers will receive a free wireless VoIP phone, and calls to fixed networks are free until 31 May.
