Celtel to use AccessGate solution to optimise backhaul traffic

3 May 2006

Pan-African mobile operator Celtel International is increasing its use of NMS’s AccessGate backhaul optimisation solution to trim operating costs as its subscriber base expands. The NMS platform reduces backhaul traffic without degrading voice call quality and is designed to integrate seamlessly with terrestrial leased line, satellite and microwave-based infrastructure. Celtel’s group procurement director Nick Schild said the company was experiencing ‘overwhelming subscriber growth throughout Africa’ and was deploying AccessGate ‘to reduce OpEx on satellite backhaul links and to increase the amount of traffic on our existing link capacity.’
