Russian alternative telco Golden Telecom is deploying equipment supplied by Nortel Networks to build a wireless mesh network in Moscow, reports Telecompaper. The network consists of around 5,000 Wi-Fi access points and supports services such as high speed internet access, VoIP and location-based services using the Aport search engine. Golden is planning to start offering commercial services over the new network in phases after completing testing this summer.
