Govt agrees to maintain Telenor majority stake until 2007 at least

Norwegian telco Telenor has struck an agreement with the government, its largest shareholder, to renew their current share buy-back agreement, which was due to expire on 23 May. The agreement, which will expire at Telenor’s annual general meeting in 2007, states that the Norwegian government will participate in any future share buy-backs in Telenor, thereby ensuring that its majority ownership stake is maintained.
