ISP dumps incumbent internet bandwidth in favour of Optus, press say

28 Apr 2006

Australian internet service provider Westnet is to stop taking bandwidth from AAPT and Telstra, and switch its business to SingTel Optus, according to ZDNet. The switch will see all of Westnet’s 85,000 broadband and 60,000 dial-up users migrated to Optus infrastructure. Westnet is currently using Telstra as its upstream internet provider in Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory, with AAPT providing services elsewhere. Neither Westnet nor Optus has confirmed the deal.
