TP SA Q1 sales up, but decline expected for FY 2006

27 Apr 2006

TP SA, Poland’s dominant telco, said yesterday that first quarter net profit rose 9.2% year-on-year to PLN450 million (USD135.9 million), on the back of sales of PLN4.6 billion (up 2.7%). A 20% hike in turnover from mobile division Orange Poland was enough to off-set a 5% sales slump from fixed line operations. Despite the overall increase, the company expects revenue to decline by between 1% and 1.5% for full year 2006; in 2005 sales were down 1% year-on-year to 18.33 billion.
