Axtel posts 25% rise in 1Q EBITDA

Mexican wireline operator Axtel has reported a 25% hike in EBITDA for the first quarter of 2006, on the back of a steady increase in subscribers. Revenues increased to MXN1.313 billion (USD118 million) in the first quarter, from MXN1.157 billion in the same period of 2005, leading to EBITDA of MXN475.9 million, up from MXN380.1 million a year earlier. At the end of March 2006 Axtel had 648,402 lines in service, up from 605,904 at the start of the year.
