Almendral to keep hold of Entel

26 Apr 2006

Chilean holding company Almendral has denied being in talks to sell its telecoms unit Entel to América Móvil. ’We absolutely deny it. There has never been any contact with them nor with anybody else. We have a commitment to stay for the long term,’ Entel president Jean Hurtado told BNamericas. Almendral took over Entel early last year by acquiring a controlling stake held by Telecom Italia for USD934 million.
