CTI Móvil outlines spending plans

25 Apr 2006

CTI Móvil, Argentina’s second largest cellco by subscribers, has revealed plans to invest USD262 million in 2006, up from the USD253 million spent in 2005. CEO Carlos Zenteno was quoted in local newspaper La Nación saying that the investment plans include coverage expansion and network capacity increases, as well as technology upgrades. ‘We are concerned about inflation because it means an increase in prices in many sectors, but we will maintain our commitment until December,’ said Zenteno. According to BNamericas, the mobile operator has officially requested a licence for 10MHz of additional spectrum in the 850MHz band in order to improve coverage and service quality, but regulator SeCom is yet to reply.
