Cellcom receives delayed fixed line licence

24 Apr 2006

Israel’s Ministry of Communications has granted a fixed line licence to mobile operator Cellcom, according to local newspaper Globes. Cellcom was to have received the special general licence for the provision of domestic telecoms services (without a universal service obligation) at the start of the month, but with just hours to go officials announced that the handover would be postponed for several days to enable the Ministry to finalise the technical details of the concessions. According to the newspaper, Cellcom plans to concentrate on offering fixed line service to the higher revenue corporate market.
