President approves new telecoms law

South Africa’s new Electronic Communications Bill has taken another step closer to being enacted, with the news that President Thabo Mbeki approved the legislation this week. The new bill is expected to pave the way for improved competition in telecoms markets and lower tariffs for end users. However, Moneyweb reports that there is still no firm date set for the final implementation of the bill.
