Indonesian mobile network operator Telkomsel expects revenues to grow by 30% in 2006 thanks to the addition of seven million new subscribers, according to the company’s president, Kiskenda Suriahardja. The cellco now has 27 million customers, up from 24 million at the start of the year, he said, adding that a similar acquisition rate throughout the remainder of the year is expected to fuel strong revenue growth. Cellular penetration in Indonesia currently stands at around 19%, providing ample room for expansion for the country’s network operators. Although he declined to provide any official figures, Kiskenda said that net profit for 2005 is expected to increase by 50% year-on-year.
