DoCoMo halts sale of ‘defective’ P702i phone

20 Apr 2006

NTT DoCoMo has suspended the sale of the P702i mobile phone due to a defect that causes the unit to lock when it is switched off. The FOMA 3G phone is made by Panasonic Mobile Communications, a division of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. DoCoMo says it has sold 60,000 P702i handsets since launching the model in February and has received more than 300 complaints from customers. It plans to replace all the phones by the end of the month.
