People Telecom launches ADSL2+

18 Apr 2006

People Telecom has launched ADSL2+ broadband services providing speeds of up to 24Mbps. The service is mainly being offered to new customers initially due to problems in the migration process for existing People subscribers. The development comes on the back of an agreement announced in January allowing People to use the broadband infrastructure of NEC Australia’s NEXTEP division. Until now People primarily resold Telstra’s wholesale DSL offerings which are limited to 1.5Mbps. In February 2006, People said it had 34,000 ADSL broadband customers, with a further 1,500 signing up each month.
