Dutch cableco Casema could be sold or merged

The owners of Dutch cable operator Casema are reported to be mulling the sale or possible merger of the company.Private equity groups Carlyle, Providence and GMT could raise up to EUR2 billion (USD2.4 billion) from such a move, according to the Dutch press. The consortium acquired Casema in January 2003 when it paid France Télécom EUR665 million for the Netherlands’ third largest cable operator, which provides CATV, broadband and telephone services to 1.4 million customers, and operates in cities including the Hague and Utrecht.

Carlyle and Providence each own 46% of Casema. GMT holds 8%.
