The board of Russian fixed line operator VolgaTelecom is to consider a plan later this month which would see its mobile assets merged into a single company. The firm has stakes in eight cellular operators: Nizhegorodskaya Sotovaya Svyaz (NSS – 100% stake), RTKOM (100%), Ulyanovsk GSM (60%), Orenburg GSM (51%), Tatincom-T (50% plus one share), Saratov Mobile (50%), Penza Mobile (40%) and Chuvashia Mobile (30%). According to a Prime Tass report, all eight operations will be merged into NSS, which is the largest of the eight with around 1.1 million of VlgaTelecom’s 1.9 million cellular subscribers.
