More wheeler-dealings in the Indian telecoms market

Goldman Sachs Investments Mauritius has acquired 1,88,87,500 shares of Indian telecoms equipment manufacturer and service operator Himachal Futuristic Communications (HFCL), equivalent to 5.39% of issued and outstanding share capital of the company, according to a statement released to the BSE.

HFCL launched local telephony services in the Punjab circle via its HFCL Infotel subsidiary in October 2000. Infotel now offers a full portfolio of services in the region, covering 130 towns and cities, including a limited mobility WiLL service in Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Jalandhar and Amritsar under the brand name CONNECT Mobile.
