TeliaSonera’s profits down, revenues up 7%

In its 2005 annual review Nordic telecoms group TeliaSonera reported net income of SEK13.694 billion (USD1.781 billion), down from SEK14.264 billion the year before, on revenues that rose from SEK81.937 billion to SEK87.661 billion. At the end of December 2005 the group had 19.146 million consolidated mobile customers (69.887 million including associated companies), 7.064 million fixed telephony subscribers (7.688 million including associated companies), and 2.263 million internet users. In its report the Stockholm-based telco draws attention to gains of 2.7 million net new subscribers at its majority owned Nordic, Baltic and Eurasian operations, and a total of 14.8 million new customers at associated cellcos MegaFon and Turkcell.
