Irish alternative operator Magnet Networks has launched its Magnet Business unit and says it is rolling out SDSL services in the Republic and considering plans to enter the domestic mobile market. The business arm, launched last week, came about as a result of the recent acquisition of Netsource. Combined, the divisions of Leap Networks, Netsource and Magnet itself now have 5,000 business customers connected via fibre, ADSL and wireless technologies.
Magnet Networks is a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based international investment company Columbia Ventures Corporation (CVC), and a partner of broadband solutions provider and systems integrator, Industria. CVC holds business and telecoms interests in the US, Europe and Australia, including 100% of Dublin-based Hibernia Atlantic, owner-operator of Ireland’s only direct fibre-optic link with North America.
