LMT gets OK for retailer acquisition

12 Apr 2006

The Latvian Competition Council has approved the takeover of the country’s largest mobile phone retailer DT Mobile by mobile operator Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT), according to the BNS news service. DT Mobile has 74 stores across the country, including 39 in the capital Riga, but the Council decided that the takeover would not result in LMT having a dominant position in the market. LMT had a mobile market share of around 45% at the end of 2005, just behind Tele2 Latvia with 49%.
