Roshan tells it like it is

10 Apr 2006

Afghani wireless operator Telecom Development Company Afghanistan (TDCA), which operates under the banner Roshan, has announced that since its launch in July 2003 it has signed up 750,000 customers, almost double that of its only rival AWCC. The Roshan network now has a presence in 150 cities in 27 of the country’s 34 provinces, giving it coverage of around 40% of the population. The company claims to have invested USD180 million in its network, and expects to invest a further USD80 million this year. It claims to be the largest contributor in terms of taxes, paying the government USD25 million in 2005, equivalent to 5% of the national budget.
