Chunghwa Telecoms selects Nortel NGN

10 Apr 2006

Chunghwa Telecom has announced that it is migrating its international circuit-switched infrastructure to a Nortel VoIP next-generation network (NGN) capable of providing customers with advanced voice, data and SIP-based multimedia services. Initially being deployed in Taipei, Kaoshiung and three overseas locations by the third quarter of 2006, Taiwan’s first international NGN will simplify business for Chunghwa Telecom while supporting its drive to enhance competitiveness by enabling new revenue generating services, optimizing service delivery capabilities, and reducing operational costs. The NGN will also create a platform for future deployment of Nortel’s SIP-based IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) service delivery architecture. IMS allows all real-time voice, video and multimedia collaboration services to be interoperable across any type of network, regardless of device.
