Telkom plans ZAR30bn investment

6 Apr 2006

South Africa’s dominant operator Telkom says it is planning to spend ZAR30 billion (USD4.97 billion) over the next five years to boost its fixed line operations. The firm is hoping to increase revenues from data services as its traditional wireline telephony business is declining in popularity. Telkom has seen the number of fixed line subscriptions fall from 5.5 million in 1999 to around 4.8 million now.
