Nokia to upgrade C&W’s Channel Islands’ mobile networks

Cable & Wireless (C&W) has contracted Nokia for the supply of GSM, W-CDMA and HSDPA radio and core networks for the UK Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey. The contract is part of the global frame agreement between the two companies announced in February 2006. Under the agreement, Nokia will supply C&W with GSM and W-CDMA radio networks, including HSDPA-enabled infrastructure, and core networks, including Nokia MSC Server mobile softswitches. Also included in the deal is Nokia’s NetAct network and service management system, and a range of services such as network planning, implementation, commissioning and network optimisation. Deliveries will start immediately.
