4 Apr 2006

Spain’s incumbent telco Telefónica de Espana says it has signed up its three-millionth broadband customer since launching high speed internet services in September 1999; it had 2.719 million broadband users at the start of 2006. Telefónica offers a comprehensive suite of internet and broadband multimedia services, including dial-up, retail and wholesale broadband access through ADSL and satellite. Thanks to heavy investment over the last decade, Telefónica now has a fibre-optic cable to the curb (FTTC) network in every city with a population of more than 50,000 inhabitants.
