DT signs up for Microsoft IPTV

Deutsche Telekom (DT) has signed a contract with Microsoft to provide its customers with the equipment supplier’s internet protocol television (IPTV) platform. The alliance will offer DT’s customers next generation TV services via high-speed VDSL broadband networks. The VDSL network is expected to offer bandwidth speeds of up to 50Mbps, and is due to launch in ten major cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich by mid-2006. It will use the new VDSL standard, G992.3.
