Digicel launches on Antigua; wins Turks & Caicos licence

Caribbean wireless specialist Digicel launched its Antiguan operation on Friday, taking the number countries it operates in to 15. The company plans to invest USD6 million into the network in coming months to expand the GSM network and improve services.

Meanwhile across the Caribbean Sea, Digicel is celebrating being awarded a GSM licence by the Minister of Communications on Turks & Caicos. The new concession is the first since the cessation of Cable & Wireless’ 106-year monopoly in January 2006.
