Spectrum sale offers Vivo chance for nationwide coverage

30 Mar 2006

Brazil’s largest cellco Vivo anticipates being able to start completing its national coverage footprint in the third quarter of this year. Regulator Anatel is expected to kick off a 1.9GHz spectrum sale next quarter, providing Vivo with the opportunity to gain licences and spectrum in those states in which it is currently lacking coverage. Arch-rival TIM Brasil is to date the only operator with nationwide coverage.
