Major ISP moves to block spam traffic

New Zealand’s largest ISP by subscribers, Xtra, is to start filtering e-mail traffic on Port 25 – a dedicated internet port for sending e-mails – in a bid to block unwanted SMTP traffic. Port 25 is a popular haunt for spammers and a breeding ground for new viruses and worms that often spread across the web.
