UTL launches limited mobility CDMA service

United Telecom Ltd (UTL) has launched a limited mobility wireless service in Kathmandu Valley based on CDMA technology, in a move that is expected to spark a price war in the sector. The operator is offering the service at an introductory discount price of NPR6,999 (USD104), compared with the standard price of NPR15,060, and is providing an easy pay option of NPR2,499 upfront, plus 24 monthly payments of NPR250; the charge includes the CDMA handset.
