CFE contracts local consortium for fibre-optic upgrade

Mexican state power company Comisiòn Federal de Electridad (CFE) has contracted local consortium Techint-Isolux de México-Elina to build, install and manage a new fibre-optic network in the north of the country, according to BNamericas quoting the company. The consortium will replace 2,664km of transmission line ground wire with fibre-optic cable in the states of Baja California, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, Sinaloa, Sonora and Tamaulipas. The MXP490 million (USD46 million) contract also includes the supply, installation and activation of optical equipment and electronic peripheral equipment for 36 optic links.
