Sibirtelecom plans rebranding

Russian telco Sibirtelecom says it will combine all its mobile operations under a single brand early next year. According to news agency Prime Tass, it is also planning to apply for a GSM licence covering the Chita region, where rival company MTS is currently the only operator. Sibirtelecom provides services to more than 2.1 million subscribers via its subsidiaries Yeniseitelecom, Baikalvestcom, Stek GSM, Khakasskaya Sotovaya Set, Ulan-Udenskaya Sotovaya Set, Tomsktelecom and Altaisvyaz. It is 50.67% owned by the Russian government’s telecoms holding firm Svyazinvest.
