ADSL2+ at Telecom

24 Mar 2006

Telecom New Zealand has revealed that it will begin the rollout of high speed ADSL2+ networks in June. The deployment is part of Telecom’s NZD1.4 billion network upgrade plan. ADSL2+ equipment offers peak download speeds of 24Mbps over fixed line connections, and will enable Telecom to provide advanced services such as IP television and video calling. Matt Crockett, general manager at the firm’s wireline division, commented: "The big piece of background work going on is the build of the all IP network and we are set to start moving customers onto Next Generation Voice IP services from early 2007.” Telecom has chosen Alcatel as its equipment partner for the network upgrade.
