South Africa-based cellular operator MTN has reported financial results for the nine months to the end of December. The firm is switching from an end-December financial year to an end-March year, so did not release comparisons with its results for 2004, although its nine month revenue figure of SAR27.2 billion for 2005-06 compares favourably with the SAR29 billion reported for the previous twelve months. Similarly, EBITDA stood at SAR11.2 billion for the first nine months of the current financial year, while it reached SAR12 billion in the whole of 2004. Net profit stood at SAR6.7 billion, compared with SAR7.3 billion in 2004. MTN now has more than 23 million subscribers across its operations in 14 African countries.
