Telkom’s data deal

22 Mar 2006

South Africa’s dominant telecoms operator Telkom has made a SAR2.43 billion (USD385.7 million) offer for local IT outsourcing firm Business Connexion (BCX). According to Reuters, the telco tried to buy BCX last year but was put off by its managements’ high valuation. Telkom is reportedly looking to bolster its business services division and the addition of BCX is seen as a means of increasing data revenues as traditional telephony services continue to decline.
