SunCom’s profits affected by acquisitions

20 Mar 2006

SunCom Wireless posted a net loss of USD496 million last year compared to a net profit of USD704 million in 2004. The US and Caribbean mobile operator attributed the loss to its acquisition of the Puerto Rican and North Carolina operations of AT&T Wireless at the end of 2004. Integration of the new divisions was only completed in the third quarter of 2005, affecting the overall results. SunCom’s full-year revenues rose to USD826 million from USD818 million the year before, whilst EBITDA was USD31.1 million compared to USD208 million in 2004.
