Brazil’s largest ISP Terra says it closed out 2005 with two million internet subscribers, of which 1.3 million used broadband connections and the remainder dial-up. Terra, which is part of Spanish group Telefónica, reported gross revenues of BRL694 million (USD326 million) in 2005, a 10% rise on the previous year, and says it is aiming for 20% growth this year. The ISP hopes to see strong demand for VoIP and IPTV services in 2006 and predicts that at least 20% of its broadband users will be taking such services by the end of the year. The country’s second largest ISP, Universo Online, had 1.45 million customers at the end of 2005.
