Orange France embarks on HSDPA trial

Orange France has announced the launch of HSDPA trials in Lyon, France’s second largest city. The trial consists of 150 business customers in France using the next generation technology provided by equipment vendor Nortel. The cellco claims it will showcase various wireless broadband services, including TV, high-density (HD) video-on-demand, MP3 streaming and HD video gaming. Orange reiterated its plan to launch its HSDPA network ‘nationwide’ in the second half of 2006, initially targeting business customers.
