Jazztel launches commercial IPTV

Spanish telco Jazztel has launched its Jazztelia IPTV service across its whole network, according to business daily El Economista. The operator has local access infrastructure in more than 100 metropolitan areas and business zones in Spain which, along with its 7,367km backbone, is capable of providing transmission capacity of up to 720Gbps. It first launched trials of Jazztelia in Zaragoza and Torrejon de Ardoz in Madrid in December 2005, and becomes the second Spanish telco after incumbent Telefónica to launch commercial IPTV. France Télécom’s Spanish telco Uni2 is planning to launch IPTV services under the Wanadoo Spain banner before the end of the first quarter.
