Unitel aims for three million capacity

14 Mar 2006

Angolan GSM operator Unitel has contracted Omnitel to provide support services for a network expansion programme prompted by what it calls strong demand for basic mobile and data services in the country. The cellco aims to achieve network capacity of three million. Unitel ended 2005 with around 1.2 million subscribers, while Angola’s other mobile provider Movicel, owned by Angola Telecom, had around 400,000 users of its CDMA network.
