10 Mar 2006

French mobile operator Bouygues Télécom has selected NEC of Japan, via its French subsidiary, to supply it with a video streaming service on i-mode enabled EDGE handsets. NEC’s new platform consists of servers and integrated software based on PacketVideo Network Solutions technology and will enable customers to access video-on-demand services or watch live TV broadcasts. Bouygues’s EDGE network covers over 90% of the population. It launched its i-mode broadband mobile internet service in October 2005.
