TIME and Jaring to merge?

9 Mar 2006

Malaysia telco TIME dotCom is in talks with state owned ISP Jaring Communications concerning a merger, according to local news reports. It is claimed that the Finance Ministry, which runs Jaring, instigated the talks. ‘There are synergies between the companies and a merger is definitely on the cards, but neither TIME nor Jaring will be setting the terms of the merger,’ an unnamed government source told the Business Times. Both companies are major players in Malaysia’s burgeoning broadband market, and TIME dotCom also recently won a 3G wireless licence.
