7 Mar 2006

O2 Germany, which has recently been acquired by Telefonica of Spain, hit the ten million subscriber mark at the end of 2005, adding 823,000 new users in the fourth quarter alone. 278,000 of the new customers signed up to contract packages, with 75% of these opting for the cellco’s new Genion offering, which it markets as a flat-rate mobile alternative to fixed-line services. The operator has said it will expand into the broadband internet market in the future.
