KDN rolls out fibre optic link

Kenyan data service provider Kenya Data Networks (KDN) has launched a fibre-optic link between Mombasa and Naiorobi. The link, which was rolled out in collaboration with Siemens, cost USD300 million and will increase the speed of communications between the two cities. KDN has installed a high-speed fibre optic cable in Nairobi’s Central Business District (CBD), as well as the Upper Hill and Westlands areas of the city, and hopes to reach 80% of the Kenyan population by 2008.The network will be extended to Busia by the end of the year.
